    Description

    ANTIQUE CITY MAP, WASHINGTON, D. C., 1915/1917
Here’s a beautiful antique map of Washington, D. C., with two copyright dates - 1915 and 1917.  Measures 19" x 24", printed on thin, lightweight paper (just a bit heavier than onionskin).  Map is titled: STANDARD GUIDE OF WASHINGTON (D.C.), and is ‘an up-to-date reference to accompany the Washington Standard Guide.’  Map was engraved by the Matthews-Northrup Company, and was considered at the time the best and handsomest city map ever made by that company.  All the notable government buildings are shown...it’s neat!  The map was found in the leaves of an old 1922 copy of Moby Dick, and has been living there for all these many years!  Good condition, has a split or two along fold lines, but not bad at all.  Is fragile and will require delicate handling, though.  All map is present.  This would be beautiful framed, for a home office, or any government building!  Hope someone will enjoy it, and thanks for looking!
