Antique Victorian Smocked Blouse with Hand Embroidery and Pearl Buttons. A lovely blouse, I believe hand embroidered. It measures about 22" at the front. Because it is gathered at the back and loose at the front I can only tell you it is about 42" around the waist, and about 36" at the bust. The sleeves are about 20" long, and have pearl buttons, lace and embroidery. I believe the sleeve trim was intended to fold upward. There is smocking on both the back and front. There is one loose thread spot at neckline, and at sleeves. A few rust spots, although sunlight would help that. This blouse belonged to a very wealthy lady who live in my friend's parents rental apartment. She had a baby grand piano, and a steamer trunk that was labeled with places all over the world. Sadly she had no heirs, so the trunk with her travel clothes ended up in my friend's house after his parents died. My friend is 81,so you can imagine how old this is. I also have items from his Mother, which I will be listing in the future.
