I have been restoring KLH Model Eight radios for years, and several years ago came up with this gadget, which is based on the KLH Phono Adaptor.
This hand-built adaptor takes the stereo output from your audio device (MP3 player, CD player, cell phone etc.) and combines the Left and Right signals to play in mono through the sweet tube amplifier and acoustic suspension speaker of your KLH Model Eight radio. Includes a NEW 1/8" stereo to RCA y-cable. Please note: You must have a 1/8" (3.5mm) headphone jack on your smart phone to use this. The iPhone 7 does not have a headphone jack. You can find an "Apple Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter" on ebay or at Amazon, Target, etc. You can also hook up a CD player, tape deck or other component using standard RCA-to-RCA stereo cables (not included).

What it does:
The JKH MODEL EIGHT MP3 ADAPTOR mixes the stereo signals from your device and feeds a MONO signal to your Model Eight.
The JKH MODEL EIGHT MP3 ADAPTOR works with any stereo source that has either RCA jacks or stereo phono plug (e.g. headphone) outputs EXCEPT turntables.
You can keep the JKH MODEL EIGHT MP3 ADAPTOR plugged in to your Model Eight and switch between FM and Aux.
What it does not do:
The JKH MODEL EIGHT MP3 ADAPTOR sends a mono signal to your radio. It will not turn your Model Eight into a stereo.
The JKH MODEL EIGHT MP3 ADAPTOR works ONLY with a KLH Model Eight radio. It will not work with any other radio.
The JKH Model MODEL EIGHT MP3 ADAPTOR will not work with a turntable, which requires special equalization. Some newer turntables have a built-in phono pre-amp, but this is unusual. You can use a turntable if you purchase a separate phono preamp (also called a pre-preamp). Phono preamps range in price from about to hundreds.
The JKH Model MODEL EIGHT MP3 ADAPTOR will not work with an iPhone 7 unless you purchase an "Apple Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter".
The JKH MODEL EIGHT MP3 ADAPTOR is hand built using only the highest quality components, such as Switchcraft and Keystone jacks, film capacitors, close tolerance resistors, professional grade cable and TRS plug. I have been experimenting with cables, connectors, capacitors and knobs. The current batch has gold-plated TRS plugs, solid aluminum knobs and higher quality Y-cables. The 1st and 2nd photos above show KNOBS THAT I NO LONGER USE. Other photos show the solid aluminum Alco knob on current models.
