The Washington Plate
--- Vintage Souvenir Blue & White Transferware Plate by Adams / Jonroth
--- Old English Staffordshire Ware Made in England for CAPITAL SOUVENIR CO WASHINGTON, D.C.
All of the art work and collectibles being sold by Adams-Byrd Fine Art & Antiques have been collected and selected one at a time by the proprietor, an art historian with many years of training and experience in university art history departments, museums, galleries, and historic sites both in the U.S. and abroad.  The art and collectibles that we are offering to eBay buyers are special and unique pieces that have been carefully “curated” by us.  The business has been based in the Washington, D.C. area for many years.
This lovely blue and white plate is just under 10" in diameter.  In the center it features a scene of the UNITED STATES CAPITOL; at the top of that scene is the label SOUVENIR OF WASHINGTON, D.C.  The border has five scenes:  UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT, LINCOLN MEMORIAL AND CHERRY BLOSSOMS, WASHINGTON'S MANSION MOUNT VERNON, VA., WASHINGTON MONUMENT THROUGH THE CHERRY BLOSSOMS, THE WHITE HOUSE.  At the top center of the border are portraits of Martha and George Washington.  In the spaces in between the border vignettes, there are flowers.  The outer rim of the plate is decorated with a band of dots / small circles.

This dinnerplate size souvenir collectible is in very good condition.  If you look EXTREMELY closely at the front surface, you can find several very faint scratches (and there are a few on the back).  If we had never pointed them out you probably would never have noticed, but we go to the extreme in condition disclosures.  There are no chips, cracks or crackling.
Blue and white plate collectors, Washington D.C. souvenir collectors, and fans of the places and people depicted have a great find in this vintage collector's item   Since two of the scenes include the cherry blossoms, this would be a great memento  for all of those who have visited the blossoming cherry trees in past years ----- and who will be visiting soon.

Payment
: For auction items, payment is expected within 3 days of purchase.
